Peter was born in England in 1966
After graduating from the studio ceramics course at the University of Derbyshire
Peter briefly worked in his own studio in Derby and at Demontfort University in Leicester before moving to Tokoname, one of Japans six ancient ceramics town in 1994.
At his studio he makes a range of wood fired, naturally ash glazed work using a Tokoname style anagama.
The work is for all aspects of Japanese life, for food, the tea ceremony and flower arranging. Peter’s ceramics are exhibited in Japan, Europe and the USA. In addition to exhibitions he has been a guest at Workshops in Europe and the USA and has assisted the annual IWCAT workshop in Tokoname.
His interest in international exchange between potters has led him to Paris, Mississippi, Key West and more recently he has led Japanese potters on workshop and exhibition tours in the south of England to introduce Japanese ceramics and culture in the UK.
